Rina Crane is a native New Yorker. She is a homemaker for her husband and two children born in 2004 and 2007. She is truly passionate about labor and birth and is thrilled to share this passion along with her knowledge and experience. She strives to help families learn about birth and about their ability to advocate for themselves before, during and after labor.
She is an advanced certified doula through DONA International and has received additional doula training through ALACE and toLabor and is trained as a HypnoBirthing doula. She is a DONA-Approved Birth Doula Trainer and a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator.
She was inducted as a Fellow of the Academy of Certified Childbirth Educators in 2015. She is a founding member and Director of the NYC Doula Collective and the founder and coordinator of volunteer doula programs for the underserved in New York City. Always eager to learn, Rina has studied with Ina May Gaskin, Gail Tully, Penny Simkin, Susun Weed and many others. She is bilingual, speaking Spanish and English.
As a New York City-based, DONA-approved birth doula trainer, Rina offers a three-day birth doula workshop that qualifies as two steps toward certification through DONA International: the childbirth education requirement and the doula training. She is a mentor and founder of several local doula organizations.
